What started as local conversations with friends and colleagues about how to better serve South Carolina’s communities quickly evolved into a movement. Charles believed that progress begins when individuals and organizations collaborate, share resources, and support one another. Why Community Cares Was Founded
Community Cares was born from a need to bridge the gap between passion and purpose. Charles saw countless individuals and organizations with a desire to make a difference but lacking the tools, support, and partnerships to do so effectively.
By creating a platform where ideas, resources, and people come together, Community Cares has become a driving force for unity, leadership, and growth throughout South Carolina and beyond. It’s more than an organization — it’s a movement to uplift communities through connection, education, and shared service.
Our Conference History (Since 2019)
The Community Cares Conference began in 2019 as a small gathering of community leaders seeking to share ideas and strengthen partnerships. Since then, it has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated annual events bringing together nonprofit organizations, educators, business owners, faith-based leaders, and public officials. Each year, the conference expands its reach and impact with workshops, panels, and keynote sessions that focus on leadership, innovation, mental health, youth development, and social change.
